Cortland Lowe, a former Wake Forest golfer, survived a four-man playoff on Monday for the last spot in a qualifier at Carolina Golf Club for this week's Quail Hollow Championship.
After shooting a 67 early in the day, Lowe had to wait around to see if his score was good enough. He wound up in a four-man playoff with Chris DiMarco, Jeff Gove and David Mathis.

On the par-5 playoff hole Lowe chipped in for eagle to grab the last spot.

"I'm excited to play," said Lowe, who will play a practice round today with Bill Haas, a former Wake Forest teammate. "I've always wanted to play in that tournament and now I'll get the chance."

Lowe, a 2003 graduate of Wake Forest who lives in Charlotte, has been playing the eGolf Tour this season. He qualified for the U.S. Open last year at Bethpage Black. This will be his third PGA Tour tournament.

The other three players who grabbed spots in the field wee Billy Mayfair who shot 65 and Willis Ring and Carlos Franco, who each shot 66.
